DAY 3 on the way to Little Rock, Arkansas

Image
July 9, 2024 Night 2's Nashville's KOA was just okay. Good thing the AC is on to drown out the traffic noise. Roger said there was hot water but the showers are small plastic stalls. The park is between an open mining pit and a very busy freeway. Also lots of biting bugs, but we have spray for that. Hope this is the worst KOA on this leg of the trip. They are usually much nicer than this one. On the other hand, dinner was lobster tails over raw carrot/zucchini salad. I used our RV induction cooktop and am very pleased with it. Best $99 I have spent in a while. Charging was interesting today. The extreme heat effects range so we stopped 4 times. This was fine because we were drinking lots of water 😊. Let's just say it's nice to be bringing your own bath along with you. Stop1 was Tesla Supercharger at Holiday Inn Express in Dickson, TN. 53% to 90% costing $9.70 and took 20 minutes. Charger was 240kW (fast) Stop2 was Jackson, TN Tesla Supercharger Casey Jones Never saw so...

DAY 2 - Nashville, TN

Image
NASHVILLE KOA I admit it. I love KOAs. Ever since my buddy Henk and I used to stay in his car at one in Las Vegas when we would go to play the nickel slot machines in the olden days. The rest of our East to West trip is going to be KOAs all the way. So, this morning was really nice. Had polenta and eggs with herbs from our garden at home, Aeropress coffee for Roger and chocolate raspberry tea for me. We hit the road around 8:40am and pulled into Nashville KOA at around 4pm. The Blue Ridge really is BLUE! The Blue Ridge was gorgeous, with lots of fog and really green pastures. Charging stop today was behind a Comfort Inn just off 81 in Atkins Virginia, elevation 2100 feet. I have my altimeter from my sky-diving days in my 30s. The Atkins session cost was $9.75 to go from 20% to 80% and took 20 minutes. We had to take up two spaces driving in sideways, but no one else was there so there were 6 bays still open, so we looked like a-holes, but what can ya do?  Two-plus hours lat...

DAY 1 - HERE WE GO AGAIN

Image
This photo is from our first charger stop at a SHEETZ in Farmville, VA. There were no pull-in bays, so we pulled in sideways, leaving 4 spots still open. It was that or disconnect, which seemed stupid. I should make note of miles and state of charge. Starting tomorrow I will.  It's all so new as we have had the trailer since November 2022, three weeks ago, we traded in our (Tesla) Model 3 for a Model X (SUV) that can pull the trailer. That way we could keep our lovely truck, but not chance another cross country trip with her.  So, there will be lots of charging info as well as camping info in this year's blog. The first leg of the trip had to be cut from 2 weeks to 1, so we are going straight across and (other than tonight) are staying at KOAs all the way through. So the "East to West" leg will be mostly about charging & performance data (re: towing with an "X") and [brief] KOA reviews. As usual, we have 3 parts to our trip. The first is East to West. Th...
